THE CHALLENGE
Livingston Parish Sheriff’s office, a well respected force in Louisiana, had ambitions to construct a premier training center to propel their program to the pinnacle of recruiting potential. Not only would the new facility house cutting-edge athletic training equipment, it would also display the prestige and history of LPSO to current and future recruits, as well as their families, thereby exhibiting LPSO’s unwavering commitment to the betterment of Livingston Parish. With the assistance of architects from GHC, Compose spearheaded the project, setting a higher standard for not only law enforcement but first responder training across the country.
THE PROCESS
Taking a deep dive into the LPSO history was a key component to presenting the force’s story in unique and engaging way.
A classic athletic aesthetic and bold brand colors blended with modern materials and technologies throughout the 40,000 sq. ft. complex—which houses an improved and expanded locker room, academy classrooms, and state-of-the-art strength and conditioning facility.
The facility’s lobby is a monument to the LPSO legacy. Images and displays of fallen heroes adorn the space, including a dimensional history timeline where newcomers can read about the long line of the department’s history. In the Academy Hallway, brand marks combined with raw steel finishes with motivational words and large dark imagery contrast for a glowing moody effect to pump one up for their next training session.

FROM RENDERING TO REALITY
Over the course of 1 year, the design for the space was developed and refined. The end result was a true reflection of the vision that was articulated along the way.
The Tunnel
Entering the Academy Lobby doors, Compose wanted to emphasize the focus and drive with becoming a future LPSO Cadet. The gradient white to blue along with descriptive words and imagery, create a “tunnel” effect to drive home the intense dedication that goes along with the responsibility of wearing the badge.
THE RESULTS
LPSO wanted the best training facility in the state, a center befitting their track record of dedication to its community. The client was open to expanding their vision as to what “the best” could truly encompass, and now their academy and recruits can enjoy a comprehensive branded experience that speaks to both the history and the future of LPSO.
